    Dottie in New Dog Book

Through the Interweb, I learned that Mrs. Parker and one of her furry friends is included in this book. I am happy that she makes it in here with Marilyn Monroe and Madonna. If anyone has the book and can tell us which photo (and dog), that would be nice. I believe it's the photo of her and Robinson that is used on the cover of What Fresh Hell Is This?

    Parker Performance Coming to Connecticut

An eastern Connecticut performance of Dorothy Parker's works is coming in the new year.

The Friends of the Hagaman Memorial Library will present Jean Lane in "An Evening with Dorothy Parker," an adaptation based upon the life and works of Mrs. Parker.

The performance will take place Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m. The library is at 227 Main Street, East Haven, Conn.

Jean Lane is a New York City native. She trained in theater, has acted, directed and written for the stage. Lane has appeared at the GeVa Repertory Theatre and the Nazareth College Arts Center in Rochester, NY, the Smithsonian in Washington, DC, Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and in colleges and universities across the country. As artistic director of her own company, Hourglass Theatre, she has toured the country with "Splendid Rebel" her one-woman show on Charlotte Bronte. She lives in New Haven where she remains active in the local theater scene.

The Hagaman Memorial Library has served East Haven residents for more than 75 years. For more information, please call (203) 468-3890.

    New Interview With Marion Meade

There is a new interview I have conducted with author Marion Meade. You can read it here on Small Spiral Notebook. Want to know more about biographies? Meade says,
There are biographies that I hate. These are the ones where the writer is in love with the subject. It used to be called a puff job; well there are still biographies that are puff jobs. Where the writer doesn't delve deeply enough in order to really find out who that person is. They start with an infatuation and they never get past that. These are biographies that are usually unsatisfying (laughs). For a biography to be worthwhile it has to dig up everything it can. Once you start digging into a person's life, any person, no matter who they are or how wonderful they seem to be, you are going to find so much garbage. You're going to be drowning in it. A lot of biographers, even experienced biographers, will think, "I thought this person was nice. They are really horrible!"
