Parker Birthday Wishes

Today is the 109th anniversary of Mrs. Parker's birth. Her mother was on vacation on the Jersey Shore, hence the claim that the Garden State has on her. However, Mrs. Parker always claimed she was back at home on the Upper West Side by Labor Day, so she's a true New Yorker.

We'll find out who the real Parker fans are tomorrow at Parkerfest!

Parkerfest 2002 UPDATE

The Dorothy Parker Society of New York's Parkerfest 2002 will be held August 23-24 in Manhattan. Mrs. Parker's birthday is Aug. 22. Once again, we'll be going to Flute (205 West 54th St. between Broadway and Seventh Avenue) for Speakeasy Night on Friday at 7 p.m. Saturday we're having lunch at the Algonquin Round Table at 12:30 p.m. The walking tour will be at 3:30 p.m., beginning at West 72nd Street and Riverside Drive at the Mrs. Roosevelt statue. All events are free (cash bar), the walking tour is $20. (Be sure you can walk 30+ blocks).
