Malachy's Donegal Pub
This is my favorite bar in New York. If Dorothy had a drink here, it could have been when she lived in the neighborhood from 1917 to the 1920s.
JUST A LITTLE ONE Drop in for a pop here, you will not be sorry.

Malachy's has been at 103 West 72nd Street since before Prohibition, but the bartenders tell me the name has changed several times. In a previous incarnation, it was the Shamrock.
It has that warm, homey feel. The regulars are a pretty diverse group. Some come from the nearby ABC studios and work on the network news and soap operas. Julliard is a short walk away. Theater types. Actors and actresses from the many acting schools on the street. And regular neighborhood types like me.
There have been a few celebrities sited here, but don't every seek an autograph, please. My two faves are Ray Davies of the Kinks and Rick Moranis from Ghostbusters who lives around the corner.
Note: There are no round tables at Malachy's, but you can push a few together to make a long rectangular one.
For a drink: Ask for Paul
Getting there: Subway: 1,2,3,9 to 72nd St., B, C to 72 and Central Park West; Bus; M7, M11, M10, M72
